This type of installation focuses on leisure and outdoor activities. Service stations are typically placed in remote locations along hiking or cycling trails and provide cyclists with basic repair and maintenance options. Due to their locations, which usually do not allow continuous monitoring, the stations should be built to be particularly durable.

Foot pumps offer two advantages over conventional hand pumps. First, they are more compact and robustly built, making them less susceptible to vandalism. Second, they provide greater convenience, as both hands remain free while pumping and the user does not need to bend down.
