GaLaBau 2026 Review: 15–18 September

What visitors were most interested in at our stand

Many conversations at GaLaBau centred on a practical question: How can bicycle and scooter parking be provided where space is limited or existing sites need to be retrofitted? Visitors had the opportunity to see and try out three solutions at our stand.

Karolos: Trying it made the difference

The Karolos vertical bicycle parking system became an unexpected highlight for many visitors. Some were hesitant at first, but trying it for themselves showed how straightforward it is to park and retrieve a bicycle.

Space requirements came up often. In a low/low configuration, Karolos provides twelve bicycle spaces within 10 m². A two-tier bicycle rack with the same number of spaces requires 14 m² in the comparison. Access is another consideration: Karolos rotates, so one access area is sufficient for parking and retrieving bicycles. With a two-tier rack, an access aisle must run along the entire row.

Rulo®: Retrofitting scooter parking

Visitors were particularly interested in the mounting options for the Rulo® Scooter Rack. It can be bolted to a concrete foundation, set into concrete or mounted on a wall.

For existing sites, the above-ground option using concrete bollards drew particular attention. It allows scooter spaces to be added at schools, kindergartens and offices. Our conversations also showed that planners are increasingly considering parking for both children’s kick scooters and e-scooters alongside bicycle parking.

Kappa® Neo: Different tyre widths and charging at the parking space

The slim Kappa® Neo bicycle rack, shown alongside the LiON S charging station, demonstrated how parking for different types of bicycle can be combined with an e-bike charging point. Charging at the parking space is useful because a rider’s own charger can weigh up to 900 g and is not always carried on the bike.

Kappa® Neo accommodates tyre widths from 35 to 110 mm, covering road bikes, gravel bikes, mountain bikes, e-bikes and fat bikes. The bicycle stands securely without the rack touching its frame. This is possible because of the angled main hoop developed by Gronard, a design feature incorporated into every rack in the Kappa® family.
